APPARATUS:

It is on the Sıçak Peninsula and on the Sıçak Pier. It can be easily reached by boat from Üçağız. By land, you can see Apollonia in Kılıçlı and reach here. From the coins recovered, the history of Aperlai, a Lycian city, dates back to BC. V. or IV. It is understood that it can be traced back to the century. Aperlai, which is in the Lycian League with Isindi, Simena and Apololnia, is also seen as the head of the union.

The ramparts in the recteaonal and polygonal technique, starting from the seaside, were reinforced with intermittent towers. The walls, which surround a rectangular area belonging to the Roman period, have a magnificent appearance in places.

Other remains outside the city wall are from the Byzantine and post-Byzantine periods. The south side of the wall is in polygonal technique and is in a very dilapidated condition. In this direction, there was also a main entrance gate reinforced with towers on both sides. Apart from a church in the northwest corner and the chapel in the southeast corner, there is a specific building.

There are many sarcophagi, almost all of which have round, curved lids to the east of the city wall. Some of these are located between the early period walls and the coast. Thus, it is understood that this area belonged to the city which was later surrounded by walls. Aperlai's quay and its associated structures are under water today, and images under the sea can be seen from place to place.
