About Kekova

Kekova Island and Üç Ağız Village

Kekova is a unique region covering approximately 80 kilometers surrounding the Kekova Island from which it takes its name. The most practical and enjoyable way to reach this area is via the village of Üçağız. Located between Kaş and Demre, Üçağız is a small, peaceful village situated along the coastline, fully immersed in nature.

Once you arrive in Üçağız, you can easily access the surrounding bays, ancient cities, and the Sunken City. Right next to it lies the historical Simena (now called Kale Village), a special settlement whose history dates back to the Lycian Civilization and which still preserves its authentic texture. In Üçağız and Kale Village, you can find guesthouses to stay and seafood restaurants offering fresh catches. When you visit Kekova, tasting the seafood is highly recommended.

From Üçağız, you can take boats to comfortably explore all of Kekova, the Sunken City, and its unique bays. This region captivates every visitor with its historical atmosphere, crystal-clear waters, and natural beauty.

The famous author Mina Urgan also described Üçağız in her book *“A Dinosaur’s Travels”* with these words:

“…Another miracle of nature is Kekova. Kekova is a long island. Opposite it are two settlements, one called Kale and the other Üçağız. This incredibly beautiful place is actually a necropolis, a large cemetery. Every corner is filled with sarcophagi. There is even a sarcophagus in the shallow waters near the shore…”

Kekova offers you not just a holiday, but an unforgettable memory with its historical richness, natural beauty, and warm-hearted people.
